ABOUT THIS POSITION
Reviews and approves complex and difficult commercial plumbing and mechanical construction plans
to ensure compliane with applicable City codes. Provides technical advice and assistance to field
inspectors, architects, engineers, contractors and personnel in the interpretation of complex and
difficult plumbing/mechanical construction codes and plans.
Currently there is one vacancy in the Planning and Development Department. This recruitment may
be used by any department for any current or future vacancies over the life of the eligible list.

$25.99 (minimum) - $38.11 (maximum) hourly / $54,059 - $79,269 annually.
Comprehensive benefits package includes: 11.5 paid holidays, 12 vacation days, 15 sick days, free bus/light rail pass, traditional pension and 457/401 plans, tuition reimbursement upon hire, choice of Blue Cross/Blue Shield or Cigna HMO, PPO.

2 years of experience examining mechanical and plumbing plans to ensure compliance with provisions of the City mechanical and plumbing codes (two years at the level of Mechanical Plans Examiner I),
College-level courses in mechanical engineering.experience examining, evaluating, and/or designing electrical plans for multi-story, residential, tenant improvement, and small commercial projects to ensure compliance with the City’s electrical code and national standards.
An equivalent combination of relevant experience and education may be considered.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS –
By the end of probation, obtain one Plumbing and one Mechanical Certification:
IAPMO Plumbing Inspector OR ICC Plumbing Plans Examiner OR IAPMO
IAPMO Mechanical Inspector OR ICC Mechanical Plans Examiner
